Do you need some baby shower ideas to hit the kids?
One of the biggest issues when having a new baby is how to make the older siblings feel special. Why not throw them their own Big Brother/Sister shower?
Just like what we did at a kid's birthday party, invite all their friends and family, serve pizza and hot dogs and shower the sibling-to-be with gifts that let him/her help mom with the new baby (such as books, their own baby doll with accessories to take care of, etc).

Hi Qing,
When I became pregnant with my youngest child, everyone was on edge since I had already lost 4 pregnancies. Those that were most uneasy were my 2 older children.
They didn't want to connect with the baby while he was inside my belly for fear of losing him too.
By the time I came pregnant, I had donated all of the baby stuff we had saved from our older children. All we had left were the going home outfits for our son and daughter and that was it. My mother was going to throw a shower for me, but I thought of something to involve the children.
Our son and daughter did the baby registry.
They picked out the theme, they even helped pick the invitations and decorations!
They also helped pick the park and pavillion that the baby shower would take place at.
We invited whole families as well as a few of their own friends to celebrate them becoming "Bigs". We had games geared for the kids to take part in as well as contests putting kids vs grown-ups. We also had a diaper relay, a scavenger hunt, baby food contest, baby bottle drinking contest as well as some other games.
The hit with the kids was the diaper sniffing contest.
In 10 diapers we put dabs of unidentifiable foods (pureed brocolli, marshmallow fluff dyed green, peanut butter, etc) and everyone had to sniff the diaper and guess what food it was. By the end of the shower, the kids were thrilled to be becoming 'Bigs".
After that they began talking to the baby through my belly, singing to him, feeling him kick and listening to his heartbeat with our home monitor. It was only 2 weeks later when their brother came into the world. The shower changed everything about their feelings about having a baby brother. They weren't so scared to avoid any feelings toward him for fear of losing him.
When their baby brother was born, they welcomed him with welcome (and ready!) arms.
