My favorite baby shower gift was a personalized blanket (I didn't get it until after he was born).

But it was embroidered around the edges on all four sides with all of the important stuff: Welcome Home (Name), Date of Birth, time, weight and length. It is great to keep in his room to this day (he is 5 now) and we use it and it is washable.
