As sweet as it gets...
My best friend was having her second child, this time a girl. For her eldest she had an "Baby Shower all family extravaganza". This time she wanted something very subtle and refined to welcome her baby.
She wanted an all women's afternoon luncheon and definitively, not much baby fuss (that was she said) and no pink.
We opted for a lavender palette with seafoam green accents. For the entrance, I made "chocolate lollipops" from styrofoam and scattered white feathers to each side of the lawn. The site was her terrace where we placed the tables. In the tables, there were floral arrangements. In some tables taller arrangements and in some shorter.I colored the water with green food coloring to contrast with the lavender shades. Also in the tables we placed little trays with almond cookies for the guests to nibble on.
As for the menu we had appetizers as piggies in a blanket, little cones with 3 bean salad, chicken antipasti and crackers with cream cheese and dried fruit spread. We lunched from make-your-own sandwich bar with baguettes, turkey, hams and greens. We had cake for dessert and marshmallow & white chocolate lollipops wrapped in tulle as a favor.
We played Baby Bingo and Guess the Belly's measure. As for music we listened to merry jazz standards from a special cd mixed for the occassion.
Hope I could upload all the pictures but here is one so you can get an idea of the setting.
Mommy was very pleased and relaxed. It was a beautiful afternoon!
