Virtual Baby Shower
We are trying to throw my sister n law a baby shower but she is in Colorado and the entire family is in Ohio so we would be having a shower without the guest of honor. We don't think that she should miss out on getting "showered" with gifts just because she doesn't live locally. My only idea is to explain in the invite that she is registered at Babies R Us and that they offer free shipping up to $20 when you spend $100 or more or to give them the option to bring their gift and we will ship it for them. I feel bad asking them to send their gifts and having to pay for shipping. My other idea was to have her there "virtually" via iChat or Skype to greet the guests and try dome kind of simple baby shower game. I am looking for any other ideas that may work better, help!
AnswerWe asked Jessica from San Benito, TX for help. Here is her answer:
"I also live far away from family. My mom ended up bringing gifts to me at my work shower. However, I wish I could have shared it with my friends and family from home. I think the idea of a virtual shower is great! If friends/family are unable to attend the virtual shower, you could video tape their well wishes for the mom to be and send it to her.
I think it's okay for people to mail gifts. We received lots of gifts from amazon and babiesrus (which also offer deals on shipping). Flat rate shipping boxes also make it less expensive to mail gifts.
Don't forget to have a virtual "meet the baby party", too!"
Thank you, Jessica. And thank you for the
Under the Water baby shower you shared with us ;-)
