Just recently I found this great company called Thirty-One Gifts -- that personalizes and monograms children's items. So we had a baby shower (this was her second baby) where a local consultant came in and we ordered items for the baby.
It helped that the new mom knew the name and whether it was a boy or girl. The new mom (prior to the party) had a "wish list" of items that she wanted and we heard the consultant talk about those specific items!
The best part -- the new mom got to order a whole bunch of items for free! The consultant took only about 20 minutes describing the products and then let us (the guests) talk and mingle as we ordered. My best friend got everything she wanted -- and I got a few things for myself too!
This is a different approach to the typical baby shower and I would not recommend this for more than 20 people, but it was nice to celebrate her second child!
